Technology + Innovation: Z-Boat by Zaha Hadid Architects

It looks like a mode of transport worthy of the Dark Knight's (Batman) stamp of approval with it dramatically sculpted design, but here we have a concept drafted by Iranian born British architect Dame Zaha Hadid who has been commissioned to produce limited edition boat for art collector Kenny Schachter.

Featuring an asymmetric body constructed of fibreglass at 7.5 metres long, the French manufacturers at Shoreteam will have busy work drafting up the plans for these into a real life product. They're only producing 12 so form an orderly queue! The 'Z-Boat' should be available in the Spring of 2013 so definitely keep your eyes peeled for this one. Meantime, check out the design statement for this exciting little toy....

“The asymmetrical design is sculptural in appearance while practically affording more seating accommodations. In a sense, the bespoke boat is as much a work of art as a Cisitalia sports car in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The idea is to think of vessels and vehicles as highly individualistic expressions of art, architecture and design reflecting the edge of what is possible using the most advanced means, including materials, software systems and methods of fabrication.”
